Happy Monday everybody! I am really excited to be sharing a step by step beauty tutorial today featuring essence cosmetics. I am 35% excited that their products are sooo affordable yet high quality, 35% excited that their products are sold at Target (the retailer I visit the most) and 30% excited about anything that makes my readers and me feel like a prettier/better version of ourselves. Sounds like a perfect 100% to me!
1 – I started with a fresh face that included light foundation, concealer and eyebrow penciling.
2 – First I used my essence 05 vintage eyeshadow palette. I love this palette because it includes some greens with it’s beautiful nudes and browns. I started by covering my eyelid with a skin toned neutral just to give the eye a good foundation. Then, I took the lighter green shimmer shadow in my crease and blended it out into the top of my lid and above my crease. I used the dark green shadow for a tighter crease color and blended outward, but not as far out as my light green color. After that, I took the dark brown shadow in the corner of the crease and blended it down to the top of the lash line. To finish up the eye shadow I took the lightest shimmer shadow and applied it right under my brow and to the inner corner of my eye to highlight those areas to really make them pop.
3 – After curling my lashes I used my essence super fine eyeliner pen across the top of my lash line. Don’t be skeptical of its price point. This liner has great staying power! With a small tight brush I gently applied the darkest green shadow to my lower lash line. To finish, I topped off my eyes with 3 coats of essence lash princess mascara for a semi dramatic eye.
4 – After my eyes were good to go, I moved on to the best makeup trick in the books…..contouring. I contoured with essence contour powder in 01 light. This worked great on my skin, but going darker would have been a good option too. When contouring, you want to first make a kissy or fish face. Then take the bronze color in an upward motion right under the cheek bone. Using an angled brush for the bronzing part helps a lot. Make sure to bronze around the top of the forehead and under the chin too. I took it one step further using a smaller brush and contoured down the sides of my nose. Lastly I used the highlighter and lightly brushed the top of my cheek bones, center of my nose, middle of my forehead and the center of my chin.
5 – Next I applied my blush! I used essence silky touch blush in shade 20 babydoll. To achieve the perfect flushed look, I smile and the lightly dust the apple of my cheek and trail upward. I love to finish by taking the blush brush to my eyes and very lightly dust my brow bone to give my eyes a natural pink pop. It creates a slight sun kissed look.
6 – Lastly I used my essence lipliner in 05 soft berry to line my lip and shade in the top and sides of my lower lip. After that I topped my lips off with essence lipstick 06 barely there. It’s such a beautiful berry neutral that would look good on so many skin tones.
7 -Voila! The look is complete and I am a happy shopper.
After wearing essence all day (church, lunch and a doggie birthday party) I can honestly say I am really impressed by the quality. You really don’t have to spend big bucks in order to achieve a beautiful look that lasts all day long.
