Hey friends, thanks for stoping by! With festival season upon us, I am excited to share one of the most bohemian/free-spirited gemstones out there…can anyone guess what stone I am referring to?? If you guessed turquoise, you’re right!
Turquoise is one of the most timeless stones out there. It has been around since at least 3000 BC and possibly even longer, so it’s definitely withstood the test of time! It’s not just a trend my friends. Because there is something very mature about turquoise a lot of people tend to think it’s for the older generation or perhaps only relevant in the American Southwest. To be honest, I completely disagree. I think the stone is appropriate for any age and actually found all over the world. It’s modern style with historic roots!

I remember as a young child visiting The Four Corners (a spot in the southwest where four US states all connect) and begging my mom to purchase a dainty little turquoise cuff bracelet a native American woman was selling. Lucky for me that was my first piece of real turquoise jewelry, but definently not my last. I have always been intrigued by the mysterious stone. Turquoise feels like it’s got a great story behind it and not just another mass produced piece of jewelry.
My favorite way to wear turquoise is with a crisp white top or dress. Along with a nice summery vibe, the white really makes the stone pop! I’ve also worn turquoise with brown knits and black. The darker shades bring out the traces of brown and black in the stones.
The only rule about wearing turquoise is that there are no rules! It’s one of the only accessories that you can stack/build on and it really works. Notice how I doubled up on the rings above. I wouldn’t have done that with a lot of other types of rings. I’ve seen turquoise worn very simplistically and extremely heavy.
How ever you decide to wear your Turquoise pieces, just know it will set you apart from the rest without being over the top! Turquoise is modern style with historic roots.
